Cosimo Tomba Obituary: Joseph and Filomena (Colocielo) Tomba were his parents when he was born on February 28, 1924 in the town of San Pietro in Valle, Italy. At the age of six, Cosimo moved to the United States, ultimately settling in Morgantown, West Virginia, as well as Painesville, Ohio. While he was a young boy, Cosimo spent several formative years living on the farm owned by his uncle Cristi, where he was responsible for the care of fifty head of cattle. During this time, Cosimo developed his unparalleled work ethic, which has served him well throughout his career. He spent nearly 40 years working for the Diamond Shamrock as a crane operator, during which time he also served as a union steward for a total of 13 years. He often reflected on the fact that he had never experienced a frustrating day at work. Cosimo was a skilled builder who took pleasure in working with his hands. He constructed not one, but two homes for his family. He tended his garden with great care. He was a man of great humility and high principles, and he found his greatest joy in the company of his wife, Nicolina. Together, they brought up three children: Joseph (Maria) Tomba of Painesville, Filomena Tomba of Cuyahoga Falls, and Lina (Bernard) Kosloski of Chardon. Joseph is married to Maria, and Filomena and Lina are both married to Bernard. Cosimo was a faithful attendee of St. Mary’s church in Painesville and devoted his time to the Pompeii Society for a number of years as their treasurer. John Kosloski, Nicole Stanziale (Sunil Pahwa), and Christina Tomba were all blessed to have such a caring and compassionate grandfather in him. His great-grandchildren Sean and Henrik Pahwa were a source of great joy for him. Full Obituary
