On November 27, 2021, Cody Lee Cox, 34 years old and a resident of Greencastle, passed away. On April 13, 1987, he was brought into the world by his parents, Brad and Donna (Butts) Cox. He attended South Putnam High School and graduated there. Cody has a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors in general. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, and fishing and worked as a foreman for cell tower technicians. Cody was a man of few words, yet his presence illuminated each place he entered.
Cody possessed a really large heart. He had a profound love for his friends and family. He was the kind of person who would constantly go out of his way to assist other people. Because of his easygoing demeanor, he was an excellent friend and listener. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he took great pride in giving his all to the success of Deer Creek Rigging and Microwave. Born in Syracuse, he was predeceased by his mother, Carmella M. Shattuck, and Conliff C. Cox, both of the Ventra. Rick is a graduate of Liverpool High School, Columbia College, and Oswego State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Business Administration, respectively. In addition to being a U.S. Veteran of the Marine Corps After completing his time in the military, he worked for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years, eventually reaching the rank of Sergeant before retiring.
After that, he rose through the ranks to become the Chief of the Solvay Police Department, a position he held for 18 years. Rick was also a college lecturer, and he taught classes related to criminal justice at a number of different universities, including Columbia, OCC, Oswego Community College, and Cayuga Community College.
