According to the Athens-Clarke police department, a pedestrian was struck and killed late on Friday night while attempting to cross a four-lane motorway in the east of Athens. Christopher Geair, age 47, was named as the suspect by the police. Geair was reported by the police as being homeless. Sonny Wilson, the coroner for Athens-Clarke County, stated that he contacted Geair’s brother, who resides in North Carolina, but that Geair’s brother was unaware that Geair was residing in Athens.
Geair’s brother was found to have died of natural causes. Wilson stated that Geair is originally from the Washington, District of Columbia area. According to reports from the police, the collision took place at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the area of Georgia Highway 72 (Hull Road) and Voyles Road.
