1. Cheryl Vrchota Death, Facebook Tribute – Obituary
“Once again I come here to post with great sadness the loss of a friend. Cheryl “Cherie” Vrchota was a Sunday staple here at Hawthorne’s and we are heart broken to hear of her passing on Saturday. She was always in high spirits and was so incredibly kind, generous, and TALENTED. She created beautiful custom afghans and gave them as gifts to quite a few of us here which we will treasure along with her memory forever. Our deepest heartfelt condolences to her husband Andy and the rest of her family.” Source
2. Cheryl Teninga Death, Of Western Springs – Obituary
Cheryl Teninga, who was born in 1950 and died away in 2022, was the adoring sister of Debbie Butendorf, Beth Collins (Mark), and Paula Slabinak (Leonard). She was born to Herman C. and Joan A. Teninga. She passed away quietly on June 12, 2022. Cheryl spent her childhood in Western Springs, where she graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1968 and then continued her education at Emory University in 1972. She worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington, District of Columbia, for the better part of four decades. She received several accolades throughout her career, but the Distinguished Service Award was the one she was most proud of receiving.
Cheryl was a passionate pianist, hiker, sailor, and traveler all over the world. In her white Porsche, she was frequently spotted going on drives around town (Munchkin). Her trips to Spain, Italy, Trinidad & Tobago, Patagonia, Cabo, and cruising Route 66 were some of her most memorable travel experiences. To honor Cheryl’s life and the many, many friends and family members who live all over the world, we ask that you please take a day to do one of the following things: make a donation to your preferred charitable organization in her name; enjoy a delicious molé dish; sing a favorite song; go on your preferred road trip; do anything else that brings to mind Cheryl and how she impacted your life.
