He was best known for his roles as a judge on various cooking competition television series in the United States, such as Guy’s Grocery Games, which aired on Food Network. Ruiz was born to Yezzid and Elisa Ruiz on April 4, 1975, in the city of Passaic, in the state of New Jersey. His mother was from Cuba, and his father was from Colombia. Carl got his start in the culinary world thanks, according to his brother George, to their mother and grandmother. He received his education at the Collegiate School. He attended the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City and graduated with a degree in classical training, making him an accomplished chef. On Saturday, September 21, 2019, Ruiz passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 44.
