I am very saddened to share the info regarding the death of a good friend, & an all around amazing person who was active & extremely helpful in the Ham Community. We have lost alot in the passing of Carl “Jim” Long & he will be dearly missed. Mr. Carl James Long, 78, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, after a very brief illness. Known as Jim to friends all around the world. Jim was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam Era. He and his wife Patty moved to Lake Tansi where he retired a short six months before his illness. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Agnes Schmidt Long; sister, Claire Marshall; sister-in-law, Carol Long.
Survivors include wife, Patty Reed Long of Crossville; children, Steve Long (Tawny) of Charlotte, NC, Kristen Hullinger (Curtis Jones) of Glendale, AZ; stepson, Donald Martin (Leslie) of Franklin, TN; brothers, Dave Long of Middletown, OH, Chris Long (Kim) of Middletown, OH; sisters, Maggie Runyan of San Antonio, TX, Ann Everett, Cathy Mahoney of Middletown, OH; grandchildren, Logan and Nathan Hullinger, James, Steven and Cody Long, Reese (Caitlyn) Perry; Several nieces and nephews; several Godchildren; and children of his heart. Cremation arrangements have been made and a memorial service will be held October 15, 2022, at a location to be announced. Source
2. Carl Barker James Death – Obituary
On Saturday, March 5, 2022, Carl Barker James, our devoted brother, uncle, and friend, died away at his home. James was born on December 15th, 1954, to parents Carl and Sheron James. Because of his health, he decided to retire from his job with the UPFE railroad. He was an active participant in the community of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where he served as an organist. He was a member of Mensa, a voracious reader, a vehicle enthusiast, and a Corvair Conaseuer. He was also a regular customer at the shop of the custom automobile builder Kindig-It-Designs.
He is survived by his brother Paul and Carl James Jr., as well as his two dogs Amy and Zoey, who are sisters and whom he loved very much; in addition, he is survived by his longtime pals Scott, Rick, Jule, Sue, and a number of other people. He was a good person who cared about others and had a large circle of friends that extended from elementary school to his neighborhood. Funeral services will be held in Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, located at 1718 Combe Road, on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Read more
