1. Bonnie Chancellor Death, Of Birmingham – Obituary
An industrial tragedy that occurred Wednesday night at a company in the south of Birmingham claimed the life of a worker. On Thursday, the guy was identified as Bonnie Chancellor Jr., according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. He was a resident of Birmingham. Just after 7 o’clock in the evening, the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service and the Birmingham police were called to 123 Industrial Drive, which is located off of Lakeshore Parkway, in response to a report of a person being pinned in a machine at the business.
This address belongs to Joe Piper Inc., a distributor of odd lot paperboard, which is identified as the business. In spite of our best efforts, we were unable to get in touch with corporate representatives right away. The authorities said that Chancellor had become stuck while attempting to fix a paper machine that had become jammed. According to Captain Orlando Reynolds, the patient had been liberated by the time the medics got on the scene, and they determined that they had passed away at the site. The time of death was determined to be 7:19 p.m. by the coroner’s office. Full obituary

Over the course of his 41 years at NBC News, John Chancellor covered 20 political conventions, a dozen space shots, and a handful of conflicts. Mr. Chancellor, who did not complete his education and instead worked as a reporter for a newspaper before transitioning into a career in broadcasting at the dawn of the television age, served as an anchor for “NBC Nightly News” from 1970 to 1982.
After making his debut alongside David Brinkley and Frank McGee, he then went on to perform solo from 1971 to 1976, reunited with Mr. Brinkley from 1976 until 1979, and then performed alone once again until 1982. After Walter Cronkite’s “CBS Evening News,” “NBC Nightly News” maintained a consistent second-place position in the ratings for most of that time. The fact that he found presiding over a carefully planned and rigidly designed newscast to be extremely unsatisfying was not obvious from his professorial demeanor or his flat, pancake-like Midwestern accent; yet, he did say that he did find it.
