Bobby Hopper Death – Obituary: Arkansas Highway Commissioner Bobby Hopper has passed away at the age of 89, according to the obituary news about his death. On the Arkansas Highway Commission, Hopper had the record for the longest continuous service.  Bobby Hopper passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, according to the announcement made by his family. It was never established what brought about his passing.

In 1983, then-Governor Bill Clinton chose Hopper to fill a seat on the Highway Commission, where he remained for a total of 16 years.  He was in charge of the enlargement of Highway 412 and the construction of Interstate 540, and the tunnel that connects Northwest Arkansas to Interstate 40 is named after him. In addition, there is a highway close to Mountain Home and a bridge close to Cotter that are also named in his honor.
