Several sources verified on Thursday that 74-year-old Bobby Allison, a philanthropist in Springfield, had passed away. As a symbol of the many contributions that Allison has made to charity causes in the community of Springfield, his name and that of his mother are inscribed on a number of structures and athletic fields. Allison was actively involved in a wide variety of organizations, including Mercy Hospital, Missouri State University, the Lost and Found Grief Center, and the Miracle League Ball Field that was run by the park board.

Allison was also a participant in the development of the Betty and Bobby Allison Sports Town, which is currently under construction in west Springfield.
