In a press release that was issued on Sunday, the Norwegian Orienteering Association informed the public about the passing of Heimdal. In both orienteering and ski orienteering, Heimdal competed at the national level and was a member of the national team. After a protracted battle with illness, he passed away. Heimdal had a successful career despite his young age, earning world championship gold in ski orienteering and world championship silver in orienteering, in addition to a double-digit number of national championship gold medals on his merit list. A little less than a year ago, he participated in orienteering and was in a separate class during the NM week.
