“USA Shooting is saddened to learn about the passing of Arnold “Arnie” Vitarbo. Arnie was our U.S. National Pistol coach from 1992-94. He is also a 1976 Pan American Games Gold medalist in free pistol and placed 4th at the 1968 Olympic Games. A retired technical sergeant, Arnie coached the U.S. Air Force International Pistol team six years prior to coaching the U.S. National team. Arnie also worked with the pistol team at the University of Utah and was the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) state director for Utah. Those closest to Arnie will remember him as a dear friend, great athlete, and mentor of shooting sports.” Source

Arnold (Arnie) Talgo, 66, passed away on January 10, 2018, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in Steuben. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. The son of Elmer and Lilly Jacobson Talgo, he was born on January 20, 1951 in Oceanside, New York. His parents’ names are Elmer and Lilly. Arnie earned his degree from SUNY Empire State College. He tied the knot with Elizabeth Murtagh in the year 1977 in West Hempstead, New York. After working for the New York State Power Authority for 35 years, Mr. Talgo decided to resign from the company. He served as a commissioner of the Tug Hill Commission from 1996-2018, including as Chairman from 2002-2006;

he served on the Executive Committee of the Northern Oneida County Council of Governments for 23 years; he was a board member of the Adirondack Northern County Association for 12 years; and he served as Chairman of the Planning Board for the Town of Steuben for a number of years. He served as a commissioner of the Tug Hill Commission from 1996-2018, including as Chairman from 2002-2006 Arnie was an avid hunter, an outdoorsman who had an active lifestyle, and a fan of Teddy Roosevelt.
