Aleesha Mae Kempa was discovered dead in her cell at the Cascade County Detention Center at 6:45 a.m. on September 3, 2022, according to a news release issued by the Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter today. The statement was included in the announcement. In an attempt to preserve Kempa’s life, lifesaving procedures were carried out; nevertheless, they were unsuccessful. As is customary practice for the investigation of any death that occurs while a person is in law enforcement custody,
the Department of Criminal Investigation under the Montana Department of Justice was contacted. Ruth Adelaide (Marantette) Kempa, age 70, of Helena, Montana, passed away due to natural causes on Wednesday at a hospital in Great Falls. Kempa was a retired AT&T employee and a former resident of Great Falls. Her vigil service will be held at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel this evening at 7 o’clock. The time of the funeral mass is 10:00 am. This next Saturday at the Catholic Church of St. Joseph. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Her daughter, Charla Kempa, of Helena, and her son, John Kempa, of Beaverton, Oregon, as well as a granddaughter, Aleesha Kempa, a niece, Patty Arndt, and a large number of other special nieces and nephews, are among the people who survive her.
