1. Alain Goldmann Obituary, Facebook tribute  – Death

“We have learned with great sorrow tonight of the passing of Grand Rabbi Alain Goldmann Za’l at the age of 91. He was an iconic figure of the French rabbinate who served throughout his career with exemplary straightforwardness. Rabbi of Dijon, Bordeaux, Paris then Grand Rabbi of Paris from 1980 to 1994, he also served the armies by assuming the duties of General Chairmen of the Armies.
I have always had great respect, affection, and closeness with this exceptional Grand Rabbi who often provided me with wise advice. In addition, he had a special attachment to the synagogue of Raincy, which is the only one in France to bear the name of his father-in-law, the Grand Rabbi Henri Schilli Za’l. Six years ago we had the honor of celebrating Raincy’s (who was his age) synagogue’s 85th birthday in his presence. I will personally miss him a lot but also the French and European rabbinate as a whole. My condolences to his children and his entire family.” Source
