It was reported that a lady was killed and her 6-year-old was missing after an accident occurred on Thursday, June 9th, 2022 at approximately 7:00 p.m., according to a law enforcement official. There was an incident involving the Merrimack River in the United States. The search for the missing child in the Merrimack River, USA, was assisted by state police and US Coast Guard aircraft, a state police dive team, several ship captains, and Coast Guard boats. The hunt got on right away and went on until the wee hours of the morning. As reported by the Newburyport News

Newburyport Fire Chief Christopher LeClaire said in the wee hours of Thursday night that the chances of finding the missing boy diminish as time goes on, and eventually we will have to enter the recovery mode. Two members of the family were also saved by the patrol boats of Newburyport Fire Chief Christopher LeClaire, who added that a good samaritan in another boat helped pull them out of the water. The medical team at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport immediately pronounced the mother of two dead after she was taken there for evaluation, according to the authorities.

The woman, her husband, and their four children were fishing at the Merrimack River when two of her children ended up in the water, according to the police. Her 7-year-old daughter was saved by a nearby fishing boat after her mother jumped into the water to save her children. Even though the woman had made it as far as the boat, she was already submerged. Upon rescue, the woman was found to have stopped breathing, and she was given CPR before being taken to the hospital, where she died.

The woman’s family has not yet been informed of her identification, thus her name cannot be revealed at this time. Fire officials in Newburyport say they were unable to identify the woman’s family, citing Deer Island, a popular fishing spot in the Merrimack River, as a possible location. Additionally, he mentioned that the river’s current can be swift. Deer Island’s two major bridges, the Chain Bridge and the Hines Bridge in Amesbury were both impacted as a result.

Amesbury, Newbury, Haverhill, Salisbury, New Hampshire, Merrimac, Cataldo Ambulance, East Kingston, and the Environmental Police were also on-site, as were several other local emergency response organizations. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office also had state police officers on the scene when the woman was found deceased. There is still a lot of information to be gleaned from the Newburyport Fire Department’s investigation into the incident, according to the officials.
